He stands at the extreme westerly point of land of the Kieler F�rde, on an area of the community Strande in the district of Rendsburg- Eckernf�rde.
The�B�lker�lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse at the Kieler F�rde.�
He serves as an orientation light for the approach to the F�rde. He marks the shallow waters of�Stollergrund� with a red warning sector.

The lighthouse is still in full�operation and is remotely controlled and operated by the traffic centre of the Wasser-und Schiffahrtsamtes (Waterways and Shipping Office) L�beck in Travem�nde. The tower is also popularly known as Hein B�lk.�Today the lighthouse is�a popular tourism destination. Once you have reached the last of the 98 steps to the lower platform you are at a height of 22 meters. You have a wonderful view across the bay of Eckernf�rde and across the Danish Wohld. From here you can hike on foot or on a bicycle along the coast to the neighbour community of Schwedeneck.
